The day prioritized consistent messaging on standard response protocols — hold, secure, lockdown, evacuate and shelter — and included mental-health liaisons addressing proactive and responsive strategies. The superintendent said administrators also used scenario-based drills and emphasized relationship-building.
"The different actions, the hold, the secure, the lockdown, the evacuate, and shelter," Superintendent Greg Riddle said while describing the standard response protocols emphasized during the training. He noted SROs participated in secondary-level sessions, that mental-health staff covered screening and referral steps (including BTN threat-review procedures), and that an initial participant survey was largely positive.
The district issued lanyards with school logos to staff to promote district identity, ran raffles to encourage carpooling and said administrators will continue work on safety and relationships in classrooms. No new policies or actions were approved at the meeting; the report was informational.
