District plans junior kindergarten, new MLL and AP courses; highlights technology purchases

The board’s curriculum representative described multiple instructional updates: technology acquisitions across schools (Yodo players for early literacy, VR headsets for middle-school history units, 3-D printers and a FarmBot for high-school Project Next), enhanced health-and-wellness equipment, and professional-grade equipment for high-school programs.

Committee representative (speaker 6) outlined plans for a junior kindergarten program aimed at late-summer and fall birthdays; the district will hold a community information meeting at the Fine Arts Center, open tours in February, screening and registration in February–March, and placement notifications in May. "Our junior kindergarten program is gonna operate under a commitment to play based learning and an emphasis on teaching both school and social skills so they are ready for that kindergarten the following year," the committee representative said.

The curriculum update also listed high-school course-catalog changes: deletions at Central (sculpture, ceramics), additions (AP Physics 1 at Central, Marketing 2 at Northern, new MLL English Language Arts and MLL language development classes), and revisions to existing courses (renaming health to high-performance health in onboarding). The committee described a steering committee process that includes assistant principals, counselors, registrars and pupil-accounting specialists to approve catalog changes.
