Board packet recommends low bidders for Central High renovation; package capped at $26,248,882

The district reported it sent 22 bid categories in December for Central High School renovations and received 71 bids. The recommendation in the board packet was to accept the low bidders in 21 of 22 categories; one low bid was judged incomplete and that category was handled separately. Finance staff said the total recommended award is a package not to exceed $26,248,882 and that the amount would be paid from 2023 and 2025 capital-project funds.

"The total package is for an amount not to exceed $26,248,882," the district finance director told the board. Staff said the recommended package is approximately $3 million under the original planned budget, attributing savings in part to stabilized prices and strong competition among bidders. The director noted some items were trimmed from original plans and the district will review whether those items can be added back with savings or future changes.

The bid recommendations were presented as part of the business office’s action items and were included in the consent grouping approved by the board. Staff noted that low bidders were vetted and interviewed and that OAK (owner’s advisor) provided letters of recommendation included with the board packet.
