Operations director details summer construction and facility upgrades ahead of school start
Summary

Corey Anderson, Forest Hills Public Schools’ director of operations, described an intensive summer of maintenance and construction at the board’s Aug. 19 meeting. Anderson said the operations team maintains roughly 2,100,000 square feet of facilities and 619 acres and that the district’s roughly 80 operations staff completed paving projects at multiple schools and installed a walk-in freezer/cooler at Nat Forest.
He described completed classroom and office security updates, cafeteria renovations at Pine Ridge, a secure entrance construction at Eastern Middle that is now in the masonry phase, relocation of Eastern High’s baseball and softball complex closer to tennis courts, and progress on Northern High’s auxiliary turf field. "This team has been amazing this summer," Anderson said, and asked attendees to acknowledge custodians, grounds and maintenance staff for preparing buildings for students and staff.
Why it matters: Summer facility work affects school openings and safety; several projects will continue into the term and involve capital funds. Anderson also pointed families and staff to operational resources on the district website for facility use, cleaning protocols and pest/asbestos compliance.
What’s next: Ongoing construction phasing was described as moving forward toward fall occupancy and staged installations (some work continues during the school year).
