The Ionia County Intermediate School District Board of Education voted to approve a construction change order for the Transitions Building parking lot at 601 E. Washington Street. The board approved paying Rush Creek Excavating Inc. $30,650.00 to remove an unsuitable sub-base and replace it with the required sand and crushed concrete.
Amber Rood moved the motion and Linda Hoxie-Green supported it; the board took a roll-call vote and the motion passed unanimously. The superintendent had earlier reported subsurface issues related to the concrete construction at the Transitions Building and the change order implements corrective work described in the construction recommendation.
The action was recorded as a formal motion and passed during the Oct. 9, 2025 regular meeting at the Looking Glass Conference Room. The work will address sub-base soil conditions that were identified during construction and is funded through the district’s current capital project accounts.
