Panel approves cooperative purchase for MNPD mobile command post

The committee approved RS2026-2126 to accept the terms of a cooperative purchasing master agreement with Midway Trailers Inc. so Metro Police can acquire a mobile command post for incident command operations.
Deputy Chief Chris Gilder described the vehicle as a mobile office that supports command staff at large-scale incidents: "They have access to the equipment they need to do that, computers, phones, radio equipment ... it's basically a mobile office, if you will, to manage an incident command." He said the vehicles are used when the department needs an on-scene command presence for barricaded or large-scale events.
Councilmember Porterfield had asked for a plain-language explanation for the viewing audience; Gilder explained the vehicles' communications and equipment capabilities. The resolution passed unanimously (8–0).
