During the communications portion of the Jackson County Legislature meeting, a legislator thanked the county executive for convening members of the Board of Equalization (BOE), city and school district representatives to review a state auditor report on the 2023 assessment appeal process.
"...review some of the key points that were in the, state auditors report about how the 2023 assessment appeal process, fell short," the legislator said, adding that the meeting helped set expectations that BOE members must require evidence and follow procedures so that homeowners can prevail when assessment staff do not follow rules. The legislator thanked the county executive and said those concerns are "being very aggressively addressed now."
No formal action or follow‑up report was presented at the legislative meeting; the remarks were part of the communications report and were framed as an update to colleagues and the public.
