Legislature reconsiders and holds vote on 126‑acre development ordinance until June 1

The Jackson County Legislature considered a motion to reconsider Ordinance 6,075, a measure tied to a 126‑acre development that speakers referenced as in Oak Grove or Grand Valley. A legislator moved to reconsider, another seconded, and the body voted on the motion to reconsider.

Whitney Miller of the County Counselor's Office outlined the governing rules on motions to reconsider: "for a motion to reconsider, it's Robert's Rules 37," she advised, explaining the motion must be made by a member of the prevailing side and that while the motion must be made the same day or the next succeeding day, the body may hold the reconsideration vote for a later meeting. After the procedural explanation, the motion to reconsider was moved and seconded; the body then voted to hold Ordinance 6,075 until the June 1, 2026 meeting so members with technical difficulties could participate and to allow additional time to hear resident concerns.

Legislators stated the item will remain perfected so that the next vote will be to adopt and will require a six‑vote majority for passage. The motion to hold was approved by the body; the chair announced the ordinance will be taken up on June 1 at the scheduled meeting.
