Jackson County proclaims 'Start by Believing Day,' honors MOCSA's 50 years of service

The Jackson County Legislature unanimously adopted Resolution 22,251 to proclaim April 27 as Start by Believing Day and to recognize the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) for 50 years of survivor-centered services.
Legislator Jalen Anderson presented the resolution, thanking MOCSA and partner agencies. Anderson noted MOCSA's crisis hotline, hospital advocacy, legal and counseling services and its education programs across the county. "Moxa [MOCSA] provides critical survivor centered services, including a 24 hour crisis line, hospital advocacy, and law enforcement advocacy to ensure survivors are supported during some of their most vulnerable moments," Anderson said.
A MOCSA representative thanked the legislature for the proclamation, noted the organization's partnerships with St. Luke's Health System and local police departments, and said the agency has been awarded a grant and will relocate in July as part of a building project. The resolution passed by roll call (6 yes; 3 excused).
