Parks Director Toby Berry told the Fiscal Court that staff are cutting grass, weed‑eating and preparing fields for youth baseball, softball and soccer. "The Buchanan Splash Pad will open on May 25, and they will be working to get the features out, installed, and tested for the season," Berry said. The county also plans a car show at the fairgrounds on May 16.
Esq. Carl Tingle, reporting for the Parks & Fairgrounds Committee, said everything is generally running smoothly but the department needs a truck to pull a 16‑foot trailer and discussed removing dilapidated buildings to clean up the fairgrounds. The county is evaluating equipment needs and scheduling to support the summer activity calendar.
No capital purchases were approved at the meeting; the committee will continue planning and return recommendations for equipment or building removal to the Court as needed.
