The Board agreed Dec. 8 to adopt amended hourly and daily service rates for 2025–26, effective Jan. 26, 2026, adding a specific rate for a Planetarium technician. Superintendent Zack Sedgwick explained the change during a short discussion about program support and staffing for special facilities.
Trustees highlighted the planetarium's role in community education and outreach. Trustee Eric Smith encouraged residents to visit, saying the facility is supported by a combination of funding sources and calling it "one of three in the United States" during his remarks. The hourly/daily rates schedule included the new Planetarium Tech line; the motion to accept the rate schedule passed 7‑0 (mover Jason Zdunek, seconder Jennifer Klipp).
Board members said the updated schedule helps the district price extracurricular and community offerings, and they thanked staff for including the planetarium line as the district advances facility improvements.
