The Marquette Area Public Schools Board on Dec. 8 accepted the district's audited financial statements for the year ended June 30, 2025, after a presentation by Anderson, Tackman & Company, PLC.
Assistant Superintendent James Lampman introduced Michael Grentz, CPA, who summarized the auditor's findings. Grentz said the auditors issued an unmodified opinion on the basic financial statements and reported a positive total net position. He also explained the firm is performing single‑audit compliance testing for federal awards and that the state'issued single‑audit guidance arrived late; the auditors had a 30‑day reprieve to complete testing and "from what they've done so far, they don't think there will be any issues." The Board voted 7‑0 to accept the report.
The district's management discussion and analysis in the audit shows a fiscal‑year increase in net position of $11,692,079 and a reported net position of $1,609,121 as of June 30, 2025. The general fund reported a $1,244,765 net increase for the year, driven by higher revenues and lower expenditures than forecasted.
Board members thanked finance staff for the work behind the audit and noted the report will be part of upcoming budget and bond planning discussions. Lampman and the auditors said the single‑audit deliverable will follow when compliance testing is complete.
