The Marquette Area Public Schools Board approved the purchase of two new school buses Oct. 13: a 2026 International CE 77-passenger bus at $142,590 and a 2027 International CE 48+3 lift bus at $157,695, for a combined purchase price of $300,285. Auxiliary Services Director Lloyd Vander Schaaf recommended the purchases based on budgeted fleet replacement plans and the cooperative U.P. bus bid.
Vander Schaaf’s memo said the standard bus delivery was expected before the end of the calendar year and the lift-equipped bus in spring 2026. The district’s transportation plan currently budgets for two bus purchases per year to maintain a 20-bus fleet. Trustee Jennifer Klipp thanked Vander Schaaf for presenting the recommendation: "Thank you, Mr. Vander Schaaf for working us through two buses; we appreciate you making the recommendations." The motion to approve the purchase carried 5-0.
Provenance: purchase recommendation and U.P. bid documents (topic intro SEG 041; topic finish SEG 046).
