Administration details bond spending, ESSER uses and remaining projects

District staff walked the board through which bond and ESSER projects have been completed, which remain, and what additional funds may be required to finish building upgrades across the system.

Administration listed completed projects (PA systems, playground work, cafeteria HVAC in several schools) and noted that ESSER funds were used for large mechanical upgrades at Waterloo, Manor and Raisinville. Superintendent Shaw reported approximately $7.1 million remaining in bond proceeds but said completing all planned work would exceed that amount; he estimated the district could need roughly $8 million more to finish the remaining items without using sinking-fund or grant matching dollars.

Board members asked which specific bid packages include restroom modifications and secure entries; staff said bid package #6 covers restroom updates and secure entries are part of the bond scope. Administration told the board that some unit ventilators and other systems were installed in a “prepped for AC” state to allow later additions if funds become available, and that a $3 million state infrastructure grant application would require a local match.
