Staff presented a teacher-evaluation update driven by state changes effective July 1 and additional requirements taking effect Sept. 1. District staff said they will execute a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to attach evaluation processes to the union contract for this school year and that the district’s system will use Danielson 2022 as the evaluation framework.
Staff noted the state reduced the weight of M-STEP results and emphasized that the evaluation tool will be heavily based on classroom observation and the Danielson rubric. The district and union agreed to request 30-minute observation windows (the state recommends two 15-minute observations 60 days apart) because local educators said 15 minutes is insufficient. Staff also said inter-rater reliability training is mandated and that the district will purchase access and make it available via Frontline before Sept. 1.
