Board hears plan for Custer parent loop to reduce pickup congestion

Superintendent Shaw presented a conceptual design for a Custer School parent-loop intended to move parents off the road and reduce student crossing hazards. He described a plan to double-lane a 2,200-foot section from the road to the back of the soccer field, install a gate that remains closed overnight, and add a 35–40-foot pavilion near the loading area to create a single supervised pick-up location.
Board members asked about bus interactions and drainage. Superintendent Shaw said buses currently come from middle- and high-school loops and that the proposed driveway design would free up bus circulation. He also said the district would work with the county on culvert and drain issues and that cost estimates would be provided at a future meeting. "So it would be from, the road to the back of the soccer field, 2 lanes," he explained during the presentation.
