High-school construction ongoing; district plans alternate opening-day arrangements

Superintendent Shaw told the board that significant mechanical work remains at the high school and that parts of the building will be inaccessible on opening day. She said staff are planning a streamed kickoff and will station personnel in classrooms and wings because the auditorium and commons will not be available.
Shaw said inspections are expected late next week or the following week and the district expects a temporary oxygen permit during the completion phase. She credited Monroe Heating Plumbing for pre-fabricating mechanical components that saved time. The board was told staff hope to have the high-school office and other areas available soon and that final work will continue while school is in session.
