Courtney Hodges, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, told the board that Longwood recorded more than $29 million in philanthropic support this year and highlighted that the primary focus is the impact those gifts will have on students.
Hodges singled out major commitments including the Greenwood Gift, the Bird-Jones gift, the Bowman-Ashby leadership program, and eight new endowed professorships. She emphasized a donor base of more than 2,700 contributors and said the headline should be the gifts’ effect on student opportunities rather than the raw total.
