The Saginaw School District of the City of Board of Education appointed Dr. Janae T. Bady to a vacant trustee seat following a special meeting on Jan. 26, 2026.
Vice President J. Nash moved and Trustee J. Calhoun supported a motion to appoint the highest-scoring candidate, Dr. Bady, to be seated at the next official board meeting. A voice vote was recorded as AYES: 6, NAYS: 0; the motion carried.
Secretary V. Harrison reported cumulative interview scores used in deliberation: Lula Woodward — 275 points; Khadijah Murrell — 175 points; Connie Johnson — 268 points; Alison Reed — 255 points; Janae T. Bady — 334 points. The board used those totals to identify the top candidate for appointment.
President C. Coleman emphasized the board will act together: "It is important to know we are a team. Dr. Bady will bring unique contributions," he said. Vice President J. Nash added that the district received "so many strong applicants" and said she believes Dr. Bady will be "a great Board Member."
