Port Huron district to develop a "Portrait of a Learner" using staff and student surveys

Superintendent Kerhoulas told the board the district will create a "Portrait of a Learner" as a foundation for revisiting mission, goals and priorities. "Before we revisit any of these, we want to 'reverse design' what we do and create a 'Portrait of a Learner,'" Kerhoulas said; staff and students are being surveyed and the district expects to gather and share data in about a month.
Board members were invited to participate in the survey work and the administration said collected data will inform the district's priorities on academics, health and safety, equity and finance. No formal adoption timeline was presented at the special meeting.
