Commissioner Jeff Ridell told the board that Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) has not been sufficiently collaborative with county workforce objectives and that the county needs programs focused on broader workforce outcomes rather than isolated organizational metrics. In response, Dave said the board will move forward with plans for youth program staff to provide career counseling at JVS and in local high schools, a step intended to better connect in-school youth with training and career pathways. The board also discussed strengthening partnerships with Lorain County Community College and Black River Career Prep.
