The Union City Community Schools Board of Education voted Sept. 15 to purchase the Vocera hands-free communication system for an amount not to exceed $120,000.00. The motion, made by Board Member Andrew Yockey and seconded by Darin LaBar, carried 5–1; Paul Arlt recorded the lone Nay vote.
Courtney James from Stryker presented an overview of the Vocera product earlier in the meeting before the purchase vote. Board discussion and the recorded roll call show the board approved the expenditure with one dissent; the transcript records the approved limit of "$120,000.00." The purchase was recorded as a separate motion from the consent agenda and followed presentation of the system.
