Longwood Board unanimously approves emeritus honors and multiple faculty promotions

The Longwood University Board of Visitors unanimously approved a slate of faculty personnel actions Friday, granting emeritus status to four longtime faculty members and approving multiple promotions including several full professorships and tenure awards.

Vice Rector Jeff Nottingham moved to convene the closed session; the board later certified by roll call that only matters lawfully exempted were discussed. The subsequent public motion to approve the Provost’s and President’s recommendations was moved by Kathleen Early and seconded by David Rose. The motion passed unanimously.
The Board awarded emeritus status to Dr. William Abrams (Mathematics), Dr. David Geraghty (History), Dr. David Locascio (Education) and Dr. Charles Ross (Physics). Promotions to professor were approved for Tammy Hines (Library Science), Dr. Brandon Jackson (Biology), Dr. Bjeorn Ludwar (Biology), Dr. Kat McCleskey (Counselor Education), Dr. Lisa Minor (Nursing), Dr. Kenneth Pestka (Physics), Ms. Lauren Rice (Art), Dr. Terri Sabatos (Art History) and Dr. Ann Bailey Yoelin (Therapeutic Recreation). Several faculty received promotion to associate professor with tenure and other rank changes as listed in the Board materials.
The Board did not discuss salary figures in public; the motion carried without recorded dissent. No changes to the recommendations were reported in open session.
