Students, drama team and card-art winners recognized at Port Huron board meeting

At the Dec. 15 meeting the Port Huron Area School District recognized student and extracurricular achievements. The Thomas Edison Elementary Student Council led the Pledge of Allegiance and was recognized for the Sock-tober fundraiser. The PHHS drama team was congratulated for its Nov. 21-23 production of "You Can't Take It With You." The board also recognized the winners of the district's 2025 Christmas card contest: student artists Rhiannon Shuckerow Murch (PHHS '27) and Jenika Mackinnon (PHHS '26); art teacher Mary Jones was acknowledged alongside the students. Gifts were presented to honorees by Insurance Specialists Agency (a local MEEMIC agent), Sperry's Moviehouse and the Port Huron Prowlers.
Superintendent Kerhoulas outlined the Christmas-card selection process for the board as part of his report. The recognitions were part of the superintendent's report and did not require a vote.
