During public comments Jakob Beckley reported that disaster relief efforts after the 2025 floods were operated through Friends for Michael and that auditors prevented direct county donations to individuals. To preserve funds for future disaster response, a new nonprofit, Henry County Disaster Relief Inc., has been formed and currently holds about $10,000 from the original donations. Beckley thanked Fiscal Court Clerk Denise Perry and volunteers including Keith Jeffries and Renee Roberts; he said Travis Buchanan will serve as president and Beckley as treasurer.
Judge Bates clarified the organization is not political and is intended only to provide services during future disasters. The minutes record this as a public comment item; no county appropriation or formal endorsement was recorded at the meeting.
