The New Buffalo Area Schools Board voted to amend the 2025–2026 General Fund budget after a presentation from the district finance staff. The motion to approve the amendment was made by Board Member Vanessa Thun and seconded by Jennifer Summers and was recorded as "All ayes, motion carried."
Director of Finance Pano Arvanitis told the board the district levied 18 mills on applicable non-principal-residence and non-qualified properties in 2025, generating an estimated $17.6 million, and reported total General Fund revenue of $21.4 million and expenditures of $21.9 million. Arvanitis said the district maintains a fund balance of "25.73%, equivalent to about 3.1 months of operating expenditures," aligning with recommended reserve levels.
Board members cited the finance committee review before the vote. The amendment was presented "per resolution (General Fund)" by the superintendent and business manager and passed with a unanimous vote. The board did not record any roll-call dissent or abstentions on the amendment in the minutes.
