Multiple council members described constituent complaints about on‑premises (doorstep) collection for seniors and mobility‑impaired residents.
Council member Orietta said she personally visited an elderly resident whose trash had been left for weeks despite registration for on‑premises pickup and asked how the program works and who is accountable when pickups are missed. Director Crooms said the department created a prioritized 'hot list' for on‑premises addresses and is reevaluating certifications to ensure service reaches residents who need it most. "We have a list of on premises... every single one of these houses are on premises. These are the ones we are checking first," Crooms said, and the department committed to follow up with council offices on outstanding cases.
Council members also discussed legal and privacy constraints related to sharing medical documentation and asked the agency to consult the Office of Law before sharing lists with council staff. The department said it will return with follow‑up information and clarified it is not phasing out the on‑premises program.
