The Board of Education of Independent School District No. 206 appointed Kyle Momsen to fill a school board vacancy with a term expiring the first Monday in January 2029.
The appointment was approved by a 5–0 vote on a resolution moved by Alan Zeithamer and seconded by Laura Knudsen. The board record states the appointment becomes effective 30 days after adoption unless a valid petition to reject the appointee is filed under Minnesota Statutes, Section 123B.09, Subd. 5b(b).
In the same series of motions the board adopted a resolution calling a special election to fill the vacancy. The resolution sets the special election for Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026 and instructs the clerk to manage affidavit filing, ballot preparation, notices and sample ballots in accordance with Minnesota election law. The board also set candidate filing dates from May 19, 2026 through June 2, 2026 and a $2 filing fee. The motions passed unanimously, 5–0.
