Timothy Meyer, president of the Mount Rainier Elementary PTO and a PGCPS parent representative, urged work group members to promote National Walk, Bike and Roll to School Day on Oct. 9 and volunteer to register schools and share materials. He said PGCPS already had the first two schools in the country signed up for the date and offered to send registration links and resources.
"October 9 is National Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day," Meyer said, and he volunteered to email registration links and materials to the group. Staff agreed to post the registration link on the work group web page and to circulate materials through council channels so schools and parents countywide can participate.
The announcement was raised near the meeting's close as the group planned outreach and community-education activities tied to walk-audit work and pilot interventions.
