Board removes, revises and adds several policies in multi-item action
Summary
The board removed a list of older policies, revised Policy 7350 (Textbook Adoption and Instructional Resources), and added new or renamed policies including 4400 Bus Inspections and 7210 Extracurricular Activities; all actions passed unanimously.
Board Policy Committee chair David Indish reviewed proposed policy changes and the board took multiple formal actions. The board approved the removal of several existing policies (including 4400 District Vehicle Idling Policy; 5300 Personnel Records; 5725 Qualifications and Duties; 7210 Interscholastic Athletics; 7490 Field Trips and Excursions; and others), revised Policy 7350 Textbook Adoption and Instructional Resources, and approved a set of new/renamed policies (4400 Bus Inspections; 5300 Personnel Files and Payroll Information; 7210 Extracurricular Activities; 7490 Field Trips; and 7491 Extracurricular and Athletic Trips). Motions were made and seconded and all recorded roll-call votes were 7-0 in favor.
Mr. Indish explained the rationale for adding, revising, rewriting and removing policies; board members asked clarifying questions answered by Mr. Indish and Superintendent Dr. Adam Spina. Items that were moved to ACTION for the March 2 meeting were identified where applicable; several policy actions were approved at this meeting and recorded in the minutes.
