Austin Gastro told attendees that a wireless-related bill updates state code on modifications of existing wireless facilities, limiting when localities may deny modification requests if statutory criteria are met and establishing review timeframes and notice processes.
"It prohibits denial of certain modification requests," Gastro said, adding the county will revise use-specific standards to reference the new state criteria and to set review and notice procedures for applicants. He described the change as applying only to modifications of existing facilities and said staff is already largely aligned with the new rules but will reference the revised state code in the ordinance.
Staff will include the revised criteria and specified review timelines in the draft ordinance text the county will publish at authorization.
