The Board of Education of Alexandria Public Schools unanimously approved the April 20 consent agenda, which included ratification of March 2026 claims and revenue/expenditure reports and a large package of personnel actions. The board recorded Ayes 6, Nays 0 on the motion by Maureen Eigen, seconded by Alan Zeithamer.
Personnel items covered new hires, resignations and retirements across licensed and nonlicensed staff. Examples in the packet include part-time reading intervention hires (Susan Flynn and Tamara Nelson, hire date 3/16/26), the retirement of Sean Foster effective June 2, 2026, and multiple resignations and contract expirations. The consent agenda also authorized donations and grants: $970 from Gate City Bank’s Cardinal Debit Program; $5,000 to HOSA from Alexandria Elks Lodge 1685; $2,000 to the AAHS softball team from the Softball Booster Club; multiple DECA donations (including $3,000 from Hilltop Lumber and $2,500 from Alex Brick & Stone Inc.); and a $435 grant to DMS Science from the National Fluid Power Association.
The board approved extended field trips listed in the packet: FFA students to the 2026 FFA State Convention in Minneapolis (April 19–21, 2026); Boys Varsity Golf tournaments May 1–2 (Morton, MN) and May 26–28, 2026 (Park Rapids, MN); and an AAHS Spanish class trip to Costa Rica planned for February 12–21, 2028. Fundraising activities for athletics and co-curricular programs were also authorized, including a Fruity Bowls food truck event for Track & Field and a Girls Basketball golf tournament and pizza event.
The consent motion also moved forward policy work and inter-institution agreements: first reading of Policy 515 (Protection and Privacy of Pupil Records), adoption of Policies 410, 522, 616 and 722, acceptance of an Incident Report Form, and agreements with Alexandria Technical & Community College (Statement of Assurances & Certifications for RAED) and Valley City State University (affiliation agreement July 1, 2026–June 30, 2029).
