Board hears bond updates: softball complex on schedule, pool HVAC costs rise

Superintendent Dr. Adam Spina updated the Williamston Board on bond-funded facilities work, reporting that the softball complex remains on schedule for a March 2026 completion and that design decisions for the Explorer project are ongoing.
Dr. Spina said staff are preparing to bid the Community Pool HVAC project but flagged a significant price change: the HVAC unit itself has doubled in price since the district submitted its Treasury application. Bids are expected to be available for board review in October.
The Board also discussed smaller design choices for the Explorer project, including exterior wall colors, gym floor striping and which doors will receive card-reader access. No final decisions were recorded at the Sept. 15 meeting; staff continue design work and will bring bid results and recommended actions to the board when available.
