Public commenter urges board name change, asks for risk-management review

A member of the public (Speaker 3) used the public-comment period to recommend renaming the board so its title better reflects management responsibilities and to involve county risk management and the insurer when revising code. "When you're doing the code changes to 225, I think you should think about changing the name of this board because I don't think it's being accurately reflects what its role is," the commenter said.
Board members agreed that clearer naming would aid public understanding and that the county risk-management coordinator should be consulted early in the drafting process to avoid inadvertent liability or policy gaps. Staff were asked to request the Cumberland City code language and to invite both the Cumberland police and the county's risk manager to the next meeting.
