County to contract with two recyclers after bidding; staff warns of contamination at popular site

County staff told commissioners that bids for recycling processing produced two viable vendors and recommended contracting with both Penmar and Berg Myers because each could perform parts of the scope. "Those were the 2 that bid," the chair said.
Staff also reported recurring contamination at a high-use recycling site in the Vale — people disposing of fast-food and other nonrecyclable waste — and said the department will return with recommendations to reduce contamination and preserve recycling operations at the site.
