Virginia Tech selection committee interviews candidates, selects finalists for 2026–27 student representatives

The Student Selection Committee of the Board of Visitors of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University met virtually on March 30, 2026, and Rector John Rocovich convened the session at 9:00 a.m. Committee members interviewed applicants for the 2026–27 undergraduate and graduate/professional student representative positions and later selected finalists to send to the full Board.
The minutes state that "During the closed session, the committee conducted interviews of three candidates for the 2026-27 Undergraduate Student Representative and one candidate for the 2026-27 Graduate/Professional Student Representative and selected the finalists to recommend at the full Board meeting on April 14, 2026." The screening lists of candidates had been prepared by screening committees organized by the current student representatives, Thomas Feely (undergraduate) and Katie Gregg (graduate/professional), who forwarded candidates for interview by the Selection Committee.
The committee conducted its interviews in a closed session pursuant to the Code of Virginia and will present the finalists for formal consideration at the Board of Visitors meeting on April 14, 2026. The meeting minutes were submitted by Kim O’Rourke, Secretary to the Board. The meeting adjourned at 10:37 a.m.
