Board rescinds prior plan, approves new residential planning resolution for on-campus housing

The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors on Feb. 5, 2026 approved a resolution authorizing planning funds and target timelines for multiple on-campus residential housing renovation and construction projects and rescinded the "Capital Planning Project for Residential Facilities Improvements" resolution passed by the board on Nov. 18, 2025. Amy Sebring, executive vice president and chief operating officer, and Simon Allen delivered the presentation and materials attached as Attachment B.
"That the resolution with numerous provisions authorizing planning funds and target timelines for several on-campus residential housing renovation and construction projects and rescinding the 'Capital Planning Project for Residential Facilities Improvements' resolution passed by the Board of Visitors on November 18, 2025, be approved," the meeting record states. The motion was made by Mr. Pearson, seconded by Mr. McCarthy, and passed unanimously by the 13 board members in attendance.
Rector John G. Rocovich commented that the plan is "an excellent plan" and commended board members Jeanne Stosser and Sandy Davis and members of the administration for their work. The approved resolution and presentation are attached as Attachment B in the board record; the record does not specify the precise dollar amounts or schedules for each individual renovation or construction project in the resolution text excerpted in the minutes.
