Paula Nunez, founder and artistic director of Tampa City Ballet, told the panel the organization served nearly 8,000 audience members last season and offered more than 1,000 complimentary tickets as part of education and access programming.
"Last season, we served nearly 8,000 audience members, provide more than 1,000 complimentary tickets, and create professional opportunities for all the artists," Nunez said. A second representative noted the company advanced to phase 2 of the National Endowment for the Arts grant competition and is building formal partnerships with the University of South Florida and regional museums.
Commissioners said the application will be evaluated with other FY2027 submissions; staff reiterated scoring will follow current criteria and any legal questions (such as implications of state law) will be referred to the county attorney.
