Board approves package of policy additions, revisions and removals

The Williamston Board of Education approved a multi-part policy package during the Oct. 20 meeting. On motions recorded in the minutes the board added Policy 7050-F (Instructional Materials Opt-Out Form — not sex education/family planning/reproductive health), replaced Policy 1300 (Meetings), revised policies 1032 (Board Powers/General Powers), 1180 (Board Committees), 2120 (Responsibilities of the Superintendent), 7050 (Instructional Program and Curriculum Development), 7760 (Controversial Issues and Employee Speech) and 8940 (Student Records and FERPA), and removed policies 1080-R, 1316, 1360, 1410, 4060 and 4060-R.
Each of the motions to add, replace, revise or remove policies was moved and seconded and recorded as approved by a 6–0 vote. The minutes do not include detailed redline language in the record; the actions adopt the administrative recommended changes and policy removals as presented to the board.
