Arts Council Advisory Board scores applications; BOCC makes final funding decision

Kathy Collins explained that staff checks applications for eligibility and errors but that a separate volunteer Arts Council Advisory Board reviews and scores applications; she said the advisory board will meet on Tuesday, September 15 to approve the scores and applicants will be invited to attend virtually.
Collins noted that even applicants who score 70 or higher must await BOCC action because “any and all grants that come before… the Arts Council have to go before the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners who vote whether or not to fund the program.” She also described post-award administrative steps: winners sign an acknowledgement about reimbursement rules, sign a grant agreement with the county, must provide a W‑9, and will receive a 1099 for award amounts at year‑end.
