The ALBERT LEA PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT board voted to adopt its 2025 Pay 2026 final levy during a Dec. 1 meeting at Brookside Education Center. Paul Durbahn, the district's Executive Director of Finance and Operations, presented the proposal, which "reflects a 6.78% increase totaling $10,461,563.71," and explained the rise reflects changes in the state funding formula, rising property values that reduce state aid and declining student enrollment that shifts more of the funding burden to local taxpayers.
On a motion by Kim Nelson, seconded by Mary Jo Dorman, the board approved the levy. The motion carried 5-1; Director Angie Hoffman voted against the levy. The board's earlier procedural business included unanimous approval of the meeting agenda (motion by Neal Skaar, seconded by Kim Nelson, 6-0). No additional levy amendments or alternate funding directions were recorded during the meeting.
