Policy and Community Committee reviews NEOLA policy package, hears DEIB update; no public comment

The Mason Public Schools Board of Education Policy and Community Committee convened March 19, 2026, in the Maple Room at Mason City Hall. Amy Lark called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m.; committee members Lacy Harding and Liz Evans were present, and Superintendent Gary Kinzer, Assistant Superintendent Randy Barton and HR Director Rick Brooks attended.
The brief meeting recorded no public comments and no overnight or out-of-state field trips for the month. Committee members noted Superintendent Kinzer will send a district communication about the selection of the Middle School principal. The body also reviewed a package of NEOLA policy updates it will recommend to the full board for first reading, and received an update from the DEIB Committee about plans for an inclusion week in the 2026–27 school year. The meeting adjourned at 5:46 p.m.; the next committee meeting is scheduled for April 23, 2026, at 5:15 p.m.
