Executive Director Jennifer McKay presented a suite of recommended awards for elementary renovation and site-improvement work during the April 15 informational meeting. Key recommended awards included: NBS Commercial Interiors for Elementary Media Center furniture at $272,371.70 (Gardens $97,554.24; Morton $82,236.36; Washington $92,581.10); Qualified Abatement Services for asbestos abatement at $83,728.00; Murray Underground Systems, Inc., as the apparent low bidder for paving and sidewalks at $650,157.00 (higher than an initial projected cost of $501,334.00, which McKay attributed to oil-price volatility affecting asphalt and fuel costs); Preferred Moving & Storage for moving services at $62,645.00; and JD Candler Roofing for an initial phase of Washington partial roof replacement at $514,184.12.
Ms. McKay framed the recommendations as procurement steps to be approved at the April 23 regular meeting. The minutes do not record debate or public comment on the awards in the informational session; the board was presented with the contract amounts, funding sources identified as the Building and Site Fund and the 2025 Building and Site Bond, and itemized elementary allocations where provided.
