The Eden Selectboard on Oct. 28 accepted two letters of resignation from Hannah Speer and Nicholas Tetreault and appointed two interim members to the Eden Youth Sports Committee to keep youth programs operating.
According to the minutes recorded by Assistant Town Clerk Molly Morin, Ricky Morin moved to accept the two resignations and Tim Bullard seconded; the motion was approved. With the committee reduced to two members, Clayton Whittemore moved to appoint Kristina Brown and Molly Morin as interim members; Ricky Morin seconded and the motion was approved. The board directed that an advertisement be posted to recruit additional volunteers.
The board also authorized limited interim spending to keep basketball running. "Ricky motioned to let the Eden Youth Sports Committee to spend up to $3000 on uniforms and equipment needed for basketball," the minutes state; Clayton Whittemore seconded and the motion was approved. The amount authorized — $3,000 — was described as a one-time interim allowance to cover uniforms and new basketballs while the committee recruits additional members.
The Selectboard held an executive session earlier in the meeting "per VSA 313(a)(3) to discuss the appointment, employment, or evaluation of a public officer or employee," which the minutes record began at 6:05 p.m. and ended at 7:20 p.m.; the minutes note no formal decisions were made during that executive session.
