Township audit issues clean opinion; capital and special funds highlighted

Todd Joseph, a CPA with MVA, presented Tinicum Township's 2025 Department of Community and Economic Development audit and said the firm issued an unmodified ("clean") opinion on the township's financial statements. "That's a clean opinion," Joseph said. He said the general fund aggregates roughly $3,000,000 and the capital projects fund aggregates about $4,000,000, citing approximately $1,000,000 available for capital appropriations and about $3,000,000 earmarked for the Headquarters Road bridge project.
Joseph reviewed special-revenue balances, noting about $400,000 in liquid fuels available, roughly $20,000 in the EMS fund, and approximately $1,005,000 for open-space preservation. He said the township carries one long-term outstanding debt of about $4,900,000 that matures well in the future and that the township's internal controls are "sufficient given the scope of your operations." "We didn't propose any audit adjustments," he added, describing the audit as "clean and complete."
