Forestry & Parks awards multiple bids, readies park upgrades and lists carbon credits for sale

At the March 10 meeting, Forestry Administrator Joe Grapa presented bid results and park project updates. The committee awarded the Blueberry Block Gravel Project and Old 13 to Hicks Landing Gravel Project to Haas Sons Inc. at $6.01 and $6.30 per yard respectively; Pit Toilets at Big Falls were awarded to Huffcut for $85,410.00 and the Solberg Expansion Concrete bid went to Ruby Ridge Trucking & Excavation for $21,377.00. Grapa reported a timber sale completed at Big Falls.
Staff said internet service will be installed at Solberg Lake Park in the coming spring, playground equipment is scheduled to be installed within a month, and pickleball courts are nearing final inspections. A small pavilion is planned at the playground site; signs for an ATV trail have been ordered, and the ATV club will assist with sign installation. The Westboro Fish and Wildlife Club Inc. contributed $10,000 for the Steve Creek shooting range as noted in the minutes.
On natural-resource finance, Grapa reported the county’s carbon-credit paperwork has been signed and credits are listed for sale; the minutes state credits are selling "between $20-$26 per credit." The committee discussed touring active timber sales in the future but took no additional formal votes beyond contract awards for the listed projects.
