The County Veterans Service Office reported receiving a $700 donation from DAV Auxiliary Unit 33 to the Aid to a Needy Veteran fund and outlined recent assistance efforts for unhoused veterans.
Elden Shier, County Veterans Service Officer, told the commission the office has coordinated housing placement, monetary assistance, and furniture purchases for an estimated four to five homeless veterans since his tenure. Shier also reviewed that veterans are eligible for one food or gas card once per quarter and that staff has worked with Indianhead in Ladysmith and county resources to process energy assistance requests.
