Public Works says roads holding up after heavy winter; guardrail work planned

"We got about 8 inches of snow in the 29 days of the longest February of the last 4 years," Dustin McClain, public works department, told the board and said seasonal totals now sit at about 57 inches. Trustees pressed about the schedule for removing and repairing a guardrail on Park Avenue/Hotel Street; McClain said the guardrail will be removed this year and the deep east-end grade will be patched, and noted timing depends on weather and monsoon patterns. "Everything is possible. It just depends on the monsoons," McClain said when asked if the work could be done before the end of June.
Board members also raised maintenance questions about hydraulic leaks and fuel hoses on the skid steer; McClain said quarterly cleaning and rust-proofing has helped and that no major leaks remain. The discussion concluded with plans for staff to seek approvals for road grading options and return with a more specific schedule.
