Dr. Murray criticized the level of public participation and suggested the draft return to the Planning Commission for further review; several residents echoed concerns about limited outreach through the town website, social media and Front Porch Forum. Others, including Ms. Levy and Mrs. Arrison, praised the Planning Commission's work and recommended adoption. The board confirmed this hearing was the first of two required Selectboard hearings and set the second and final hearing for July 27, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Martin Memorial Hall.
The hearing record shows current work is advisory and that projects recommended in the plan may be adjusted if future state or local laws clash with the plan's recommendations. Board members and the Land Use Administrator noted additional opportunities remain for public comment before final adoption.
