He said the county will continue to rely on state bids as a fallback if local bids are not advantageous.
"We'd like to try this year and see what the prices we can get," Derek said, noting that rock-hauling contracts would be used primarily for emergency events (FEMA-level incidents) and are not intended for routine daily use. Commissioners authorized solicitation of the specified bids and agreed staff may renew a heavy-equipment-parts contract if the vendor agrees.
